Girl Scout Cookies Are Back — With a Brand New Flavor

With the excitement of the holidays behind us, January can seem blazé. I mean, we are back at school, back at work and back to the grind. But one organization knows what we need to cure the winter doldrums: Girl Scouts cookies are back, and this year the girls are offering up a brand-new flavor.

According to USA Today, January 2 is the official start of the Girl Scout cookie selling season. And while perennial favorites, like the Thin Mint, Peanut Butter Pattie/Tagalong, Caramel deLite/Samoa and Girl Scout S’more, are slated to make their return, the organization also announced a new flavor: the Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie.

The cookie is supposed to be ooey, gooey and chewy and, according to the Scouts, will feature rich caramel, chocolate chips and a hint of sea salt. But the best part? The Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie is gluten-free — making it the organizations second, gluten-free offering.

The Girl Scouts first introduced a gluten-free option in 2015.

As for the cookies caloric information, a single serving — which is three Caramel Chocolate Chips — will have 170 calories, 12 grams of sugar and eight grams of fat. But Girl Scout cookies are magical. Their calories don’t count, or so we’ve been told.

So if you want to score this sweet treat or any of the troops’ famous flavors, be sure to download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app (yes, app!), go to the organization’s official website or track down your favorite, pint-sized salesperson. The gals will be slinging sweet, sugary goodness now through April.
