Even small improvement in Fitness shows a large impact on the risk of heart attack
How can we protect ourselves in a simple way before a heart attack?
In today’s time, Stress and too little exercise result in diseases, more and more people to dangerous cardiovascular, such as a heart attack or Angina pectoris. Doctors found out now that there is already a slightly improved cardio-sufficient respiratory Fitness, in order to protect themselves from such diseases.
The scientists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology found in their current study, our cardio-respiratory Fitness has a significant influence on the risk for heart attacks and Angina pectoris. The doctors published the results of their study in the English journal “European Heart Journal”.
Study with more than 4,500 volunteers
For their study, the experts studied the cardio-respiratory (heart / lung) Fitness of a little more than 4,500 men and women in Norway. None of the subjects suffered from a heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer. The risk to health during the next ten years of the Participants was classified as low.
Improved cardiorespiratory Fitness reduced risk
Up to the year 2017 147 of the Participants suffered a heart attack or Angina pectoris, which is caused by a narrowing or blockage of the heart arteries. Further studies then showed, finally, that the risk for heart attack and Angina pectoris with increasing cardio decreased respiratory Fitness steadily, explain the scientists. In the years following the measurements is a strong correlation between a higher Fitness-Level and a lower risk for heart attacks and Angina pectoris, explain the authors of the study.
What was the impact of improved Fitness?
Even among the people who appeared healthy, had the upper 25 per cent of the fittest, Participants are only half as high risk, such as the least fit 25%, explains the study’s author, Bjarne Nes from the Cardiac Exercise Research Group (CERG) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. The study used a fitness calculator that measures the body’s capacity to Transport and use oxygen during exercise. It turned out that each time you increase in the Fitness of 3.5 points in the risk for heart attacks and Angina fell by 15 percent.
